In downtown Vancouver, 62.8% of occupied dwellings are condominiums — and more than half of those are rented. Metro Vancouver had over 536,000 condo homes in 2024, and that number is projected to reach 946,000 by 2051. If you are moving in Vancouver, there is a strong chance you are moving into or out of a strata building.
Geography adds another layer: every move to the North Shore, Richmond, Delta, or Vancouver Island requires a bridge, tunnel, or ferry. The Lions Gate Bridge has a 13-tonne weight limit that most loaded moving trucks exceed.
