Two Small Men with Big Hearts is known throughout Canada for its quality moving services and amazing staff. But what you might not know about the company is the extent of its involvement with community organizations across the country.
Two Small Men is firmly committed to giving back to communities in which they operate. We try to to get all of our employees at every level of the company to participate in different community support programs throughout the year. Sometimes, this comes in the form of donated moving services for organizations who need to transition to a new office or who need to move large volumes over long distances. In other instances where some of these organizations offer shelter for vulnerable members of the community, Two Small Men will also step in to help move individuals into new homes, with as much discretion as is needed.
Recently, Two Small Men partnered with United Way BC (UWBC) for its annual Child Safety Initiative, which provide 520 child car seats in the Okanagan and Kootenays. According to the UWBC, more than 150,000 children live in poverty in BC, and around one in five do not have access to an adequate car seat.
While this statistic might seem unfathomable, it's an unfortunate reality cause in equal parts by the high cost of living, limited access to housing, and residual negative economic effects of the COVID pandemic. Something that seems as basic as a car seat becomes a luxury when you can't keep up with rent and the cost of groceries.
The UWBC has given out hundreds of car seats to low-income families in the Okanagan since the inception of the program in 2015. This is all made possible with the support of community partners like Two Small Men.
This year, the Two Small Men Kelowna branch helped to give out 520 car seats to communities across the Southern Interior of BC, including Lake Country, Kelowna, West Kelowna, the Westbank First Nation, Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, Keremeos, Vernon, Lumby, Nakusp, Enderby, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Revelstoke, and Kootenays. Working together with the great team of volunteers organized by the United Way BC made the huge project possible.
