Two Small Men Giving Back: Firefighters Without Borders Canada

Two Small Men donated a 53-hour Winnipeg-to-Vancouver delivery of firefighting gear for Firefighters Without Borders.

Giving back to the community is one of the cornerstones of Two Small Men with Big Hearts. Every year, we donate a percentage of our profits to local organizations across our network. It's an extension of the support we normally demonstrate through our moving expertise and available resources. The contributions themselves often come in the form of donated moving services to organizations who can't afford to shift all their time and resources towards working out relocation logistics.

In certain cases, some of these organizations will ask Two Small Men to help out with individuals or families they serve who need to find a new home, sometimes out of dire necessity. In other cases, Two Small Men has helped with office moves for these groups, which gets them back up and running efficiently in new and better spaces. As well, we have also stepped in when these groups need specific items moved or delivered, such as with the Trees of Joy campaign. What's important is helping to take the stress out of moving for these organizations so they can put all that effort into their actual outreach work.

While Two Small Men has so many great partners, today we out the focus on Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWBC) and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS), who we've worked with on multiple occasions. When the latter recently donated much-needed firefighting to the Vancouver-based FWBC, Two Small Men came in to help with the long-distance haul.

Canada has strict restrictions when it comes to how long firefighting gear can be used and the restrictions are not as intense in other countries where FWBC visits. While the donated gear is decommissioned, it makes a real difference in areas of the world where any kind of fire-fighting equipment is hard to come by.

In total, it took 53 hours to get all the equipment to Vancouver from Winnipeg. Two Small Men also helped transfer the equipment from the trucks into a sea-can ahead of their overseas voyage to the Philippines. It was a team effort start to finish.

This is just one of many ways Two Small Men strives to give back. Logistics might seem like the less-interesting part of these kind of stories but they are essential to operations.
