5 Ways to Get Involved in Your Community | Two Small Men

This year, our team is dedicated to “growing our big hearts” by giving back to the communities we live and work in. Through our efforts with various charities and organizations, we've discovered that giving back feels great! And we think everyone should experience it!

While we're not doctors, we strongly believe that community involvement is good for your health. It provides a sense of purpose and connection, helps you make friends, and encourages you to get out of the house. We want our customers to experience the great feeling of giving back, so we're here to help you figure out how.

How Can I Get Involved in My Community?

Giving back doesn't depend on your abilities, availability, resources, or skills; there's always a way to participate. Here are some of our best suggestions for getting involved:

Volunteer for a Local Organization

One of the best ways to get involved is by volunteering for a local organization or charity. Think about the causes that matter to you and search for local organizations that support these causes. Volunteering doesn't always have to be with a "charity." Many people enjoy reading to or socializing with residents at local retirement homes.

Donate What You Can

If you don't have the time to volunteer or attend events, you can give back through donations. These don't have to be monetary. In fact, donating items can often be more beneficial to organizations in need. Consider donating food to food banks, clothing to shelters or goodwill, books to libraries, pet supplies to animal shelters, and furniture to charities that support independent living.

Attend Local Events

Getting involved in your community doesn't always mean volunteering. By attending local events, you support your community in various ways. Whether you buy something from the event, cheer on local talent, or share the event on social media, your support is recognized. Of course, you can also volunteer to work at events.

Support Youth Sports and Activities

Youth sports and activities are always happening in every community. Businesses can help by sponsoring teams, uniforms, equipment, or tournaments. Individuals can volunteer their time at events or tournaments, or even get involved as coaches if they have the experience. If none of these options work out, simply showing up at games to support local teams is an excellent way to show your community spirit.

Shop Locally

One of the best ways to get involved in your community is to shop locally. Buying food, clothes, art, and services from local businesses shows that you support your community and are committed to helping local people make a living.

Getting Involved After a Move

One of the best times to get involved in your community is right after you move to a new one. If you're planning a move in the near future, choose a moving company that's also dedicated to giving back (that's us)! Get your free moving estimate today.
