Staff Spotlight on Logan Larsen

Logan Larsen
Manager
Leading a close-knit crew, Branch Manager Logan Larsen brings safety, professionalism, and heart to moving in Kamloops with Two Small Men.

For Logan Larsen, not only is Kamloops home, it's also the city in which he helps other families transitioning between homes. Working as the branch manager for Two Small Men with Big Hearts, he directly leads a team of eight expert movers and strives to make relocations as easy and stress-free as possible.
Logan joined two small men a little over four years ago and worked as a "swamper" initially. As he gained experienced and knowledge in regards to the moving industry, his confidence as a leader grew.
“The most important thing is just learning who works best together and how to make jobs go smoothly,” he explains.

These days, Logan balances logistics and employee management. He handles crew scheduling, job confirmations and moving requests that require coordination with other branches. Over the years he's come to understand that while some people have different ways of working, what's ultimately important is collaboration and cooperation.
“I know how all of them work differently together. They all get jobs done in their own way,” he says. That insight allows him to pair team members in ways that keep moves stress-free and efficient for customers.
Part of the job for Logan is knowing about challenges of the road, such as the westbound truck scale near the top of the city, which can pose as a strict nuisance for some truck drivers.
“It keeps us on our toes. We have to make sure everything is completely by the books at all times,” he explains.
It's all part of a commitment to safety that Logan takes incredibly seriously. And because the crew works on so many long-distance moving jobs, Logan needs to trust that his drivers have the same commitment when he can't be with them. When they need them, Logan will help arrange for motels for the movers to get rest on multi-day journeys.
“I tell everyone: just make sure you’re safe. I don’t care if it takes longer, just get there safely,” he says.
Because of the milder conditions of Kamloops, it's easier to move during the winter, which makes it less of a dead season for the crew there. It allows Logan to balance staffing year-round without having to make too many cuts outside of summer months.
“We drop from maybe five or six days of work a week to three or four, but I’ve been able to keep everyone with me from last season, and I plan to do the same this winter,” he says.

Part of being rooted in Kamloops means supporting community organizations and Logan and his team have participated in many initiatives over the years. They recently collected non perishables for the Kamloops Food Bank and they regularly work with the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club.
“Being part of the community means more than just moving furniture. It’s about showing heart in every way possible,” he says.
The great team along with the rewarding nature of the work itself keeps Logan motivated.
“It’s a fantastic environment. I got into this position because I was really close with everyone in the branch. It feels comfortable to come to work every day and interact with the team.”
