With over 40 years in trucking, branch manager Randy Taschuk brings steady leadership, industry know-how, and a customer-first approach to one of the most trusted moving companies in Edmonton.

For Randy Taschuk, trucking is more than a job. It has been a lifelong career that has taken him from running his own trucking company to managing one of Two Small Men with Big Hearts’ busiest branches. With over 40 years of experience in the industry, Randy brings steady leadership, deep knowledge, and a passion for doing things right to the team at this trusted moving company in Edmonton.
“I’ve been in trucking for over 40 years,” Randy says. “I even owned my own trucking company before taking some time off. But I got too bored, so I put in a resume here and the rest is history.” He joined Two Small Men in April 2022 and has been a fixture at the Edmonton branch ever since. Born and raised in the city, Randy has spent most of his life close to home, apart from a dozen years managing a pipe yard in Grande Prairie. Edmonton has always been his base, and he knows the local landscape as well as anyone.

Today, Randy manages the Edmonton branch while also overseeing maintenance for all branches across the company. That responsibility means keeping a close eye on the fleet and ensuring trucks are safe and reliable. “Whenever a truck goes into the shop, I go through the quotes, approve the work, negotiate prices, and make sure we’re only paying for what we agreed to. Once the invoices come through, I check them again before they go to accounting.” For Randy, the details matter, and decades in the business have taught him that consistency and accountability are what keep a professional moving company in Edmonton running smoothly.
The transition from long-haul freight to moving might seem like a big shift, but Randy sees it differently. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re moving furniture or hauling a semi-load of apple juice,” he says. “It’s all freight. The principles are the same.” His trucking background has given him an eye for efficiency and a knack for problem-solving that translates perfectly into managing a branch full of local movers in Edmonton.

Edmonton has its unique challenges as a market, especially when it comes to weather. Winters have always been a factor, although Randy has noticed the change over time. “The biggest challenge here is always the weather. Winters used to be consistently brutal, but now you see breaks, even plus 10 in December. That change has made the city more inviting.” The mix of work is changing too. Where once local moving services dominated, there is now a stronger balance with long-distance moving services. “There’s a healthy mix of local and long-haul moving here. This past summer it was probably 50/50, whereas the year before it was closer to 80/20. As we train our guys and they get more comfortable with how we want things done, we’ve been able to take on more highway work.”
What makes Randy most proud, however, is not the volume of work but the way his crews handle themselves with customers. He shares stories that highlight the heart behind the Two Small Men brand. “Last summer, one of our crews was helping a customer who had a flat tire on the way to her drop-off. They stopped, changed her tire for her, and then carried on with the move. Nobody told them to do that, they just did it on their own.” Another time, movers learned that a customer’s mother had passed away. “On their way to the drop-off, they stopped and picked up flowers for her. That’s the kind of thing that makes me proud of the team.”
The community side of the business also resonates strongly with Randy. Edmonton has a long tradition of giving back, and Two Small Men is no exception. “The one that stands out most for me is Santa’s Anonymous. We spend a whole day with them, following a route, dropping off boxes at eight or nine different places, and then picking them up again a week later. It’s a big effort, but it’s worth it.”

Looking ahead, Randy sees big things for the company. “Since I started in 2022, I’ve seen significant change in how we look at maintenance and safety. Everyone’s more focused as they gain tenure. I see big growth for the company in the next five years if everything is done correctly.” His blend of old-school trucking know-how and forward-looking leadership makes him an anchor for the Edmonton team and a key contributor to Two Small Men’s growth across Western Canada.
For Randy Taschuk, success is about more than keeping trucks moving. It is about building a culture where crews take pride in their work, customers feel cared for, and the company continues to grow the right way. After more than four decades in trucking, he has found a place where his experience makes an impact every day with one of the most trusted moving companies in Edmonton.
