The Okanagan Trestles Tour draws cyclists from around the world for the 80-kilometre journey made possible by founder Glenn Bond and key partners like Two Small Men with Big Hearts.

Each year on the first Sunday of July, something remarkable happens in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Hundreds of cyclists from across North America—and even Europe—gather to traverse one of Canada’s most breathtaking and historic trails. The Okanagan Trestles Tour isn’t your average bike ride. It’s a point-to-point journey along the awe-inspiring Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) Trail, featuring towering trestles, historic tunnels, and panoramic views of the Naramata Bench. And behind the scenes of this epic, 80-kilometre adventure is a logistical feat that’s only made possible with the help of passionate partners like Two Small Men with Big Hearts.
“In the event world, I'm wearing all the hats,” says Glenn Bond, founder and director of the Okanagan Trestles Tour. “I've put on many events. I've been involved and coached at two Olympic Games. But this one is special.”

What makes the Tour so unique—and challenging—is its point-to-point format, something relatively rare in cycling events. Most rides begin and end in the same spot. But here, the route starts in the historic Myra Canyon near Kelowna and finishes 80 kilometres away in Penticton. That means moving not just people, but bikes—lots of bikes—across vast terrain.
“People thought I was crazy when I started this,” Bond laughs. “It’s a lot easier to move people than bikes, is what I found.”
Enter Two Small Men with Big Hearts. Known for their cross-country moving expertise and community involvement, the iconic Canadian moving company played a pivotal role in supporting this year’s Tour.
“Two Small Men have been moving the bikes for 11 years,” says Bond. “They haven't damaged a bike in that time and they've moved over 6,000 bikes. I'm moving bikes and people. That's why I need Two Small Men with Big Hearts. They have been involved from the beginning.
Where the moving company really helps is with the complex logistics of getting all the participants’ bikes to the starting point.
“There's a lot of moving parts,” says Bond. “You go through a lot of permitting. You go through a lot of different land ownerships. I’m planning to go ahead with it again, but it's not easy. There’s a lot of things that need to come together to make it happen.”
Thanks to their deep logistical experience and commitment to community engagement, Two Small Men with Big Hearts proved to be the perfect partner. While other companies may simply drop riders off at the start, Bond’s event provides full on-course support—bike mechanics, first aid, and peace of mind.
“People like the safety aspect—that we've got their back,” Bond explains. “That's what it's all about. It's providing a fun, safe day.”
This year, the Okanagan Trestles Tour welcomed 350 riders of all ages and abilities. The route began with the iconic trestles and tunnels of Myra Canyon, followed by a newly-reopened highlight: the Adra Tunnel, part of the KVR's storied past. Riders then coasted past vineyards and sweeping lake views along the Naramata Bench into Penticton. The trail, part of the Trans Canada Trail network, offers a mostly flat or gently downhill ride, but don’t mistake it for a casual Sunday cruise.

“It’s a bucket list event for people,” Bond says. “You need to go through the website and read it and understand what you’re getting into. It’s not a paved trail; it’s very remote and it’s incredible.”
And in the end, while the scenery may steal the show, Bond knows it’s the people behind the scenes who make it all possible.
“Any successful business, it's about the people. It's about the customers,” he reflects.
Thanks to dedicated partners like Two Small Men with Big Hearts, the Okanagan Trestles Tour continues to be more than just a ride—it’s a moving experience in every sense of the word.
