About Delta, BC
DELTA is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia and part of Greater Vancouver. As of 2021, Delta is home to approximately 108 455 people in 3 communities: North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. Delta is known for its relatively dry, sunny climate compared to other parts of Greater Vancouver and boasts some of the mildest winters in Canada with its warm-summer Mediterranean climate, receiving nearly 40% less precipitation than downtown Vancouver!
And fun fact, Delta is the principle filming location for TV series Resident Alien!
What to do when you move to Delta
If you’re considering moving to Delta, we can’t recommend it enough! Besides it’s wonderful climate, Delta features a network of extensive biking trails and paths suitable for all levels of cyclist. It’s also well known as an excellent area for bird watching—anyone interested in seeing a variety of birds can do so at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, in Boundary Bay Regional Park, and even at the Delta Nature Reserve at Burns Park.
Delta also has a vibrant local community, with markets operating nearly every weekend. You’ll find local artisans, farmers, bakers, jewelry-makers and other gifts, and even live entertainment at the various markets that run throughout Delta. Here are just a few of these markets you can (and should!) look into:
- Ladner Village Market
- Tsawwassen Farmers Market
- North Delta Farmers Market
If all that wasn’t enough, Delta boasts an incredible selection of local restaurants, cafes, delis, breweries, wineries, and pubs. If you’re looking for an evening out, you can’t go wrong with a local eatery, drinks, and a visit to one of the many marinas in the area. If you’re a family new to the area after your move, you can also enjoy attractions such as Big Splash Waterpark in Tsawwassen, Annieville Lions Park in North Delta, or Kinsmen Water Play Park in Ladner.
Community Engagement in Delta
At Two Small Men, we’re passionate about community engagement—its many positive impacts can’t be overstated, and as a professional moving company, we have to add that community work is a spectacular way to become familiar with your new community and start forming new friendships!
Volunteering
Delta is an extremely community-oriented city, and the city’s official website goes into great detail on volunteer opportunities that are available within the city. You can volunteer as a Snow Angel if you’re 18 or older (or 13-17 with adult supervision) to help those who can’t shovel snow get their walkways cleared, at the KinVillage Community Centre, Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre, McKee Seniors Recreation Centre, Delta Community Animal Shelter, at various parks in the city, and at so many more locations. There’s something for everyone when it comes to volunteering in Delta!
Item Donation
If you’re moving locally or downsizing after your move to Delta, there are certainly options to donate your items in the city. The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society Thrift Shop is a great option and accepts donations from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. SOS Children’s Village is just 25 minutes away in Richmond, and accepts a wide variety of items for their thrift shop during store hours.

End-To-End Services in Delta
We understand if you only need movers to get you from Point A to Point B. But did you know that Two Small Men offers additional opt-in moving services that can help make your move even easier? Check out our Moving Services page and talk to your Move Coordinator to learn more about these services!
Packing Supplies & Services
We offer professional packing and unpacking services – you can book a packing day in advance of your move, and a Two Small Men crew will come safely pack your belongings while you focus on other moving day prep. The tips and tricks our team has acquired after over 30 years of moving will ensure that your belongings are packed safely and snugly for same-condition arrival at your new home or office!
Furniture Assembly & Disassembly
Your first night in your new home shouldn’t be spent struggling to assemble furniture. Moving is exhausting, and you and your family deserve to sleep soundly in your own beds after what was likely an emotional day. Our crew can re-assemble most furniture on arrival at the new home so that all you have to do in the evening is relax and unwind!
Storage Services
Two Small Men is proud to partner with BigSteelBox to assist our customers with their storage needs. If you choose to move with a moving container, we can help with the loading and unloading process.
BigSteelBoxes are shipping containers, so they are extremely secure. They’re wind, water, and rodent-proof and come equipped with a lockbox that protects your padlock from bolt cutters.
BigSteelBox has locations across Canada, and they offer secure storage at their facilities. This is a very handy option because you’ll only have to load and unload your moving container once, even if you need storage in between your move!
Junk Removal
Let’s face it: one of the worst parts of moving is dealing with junk disposal afterward. You probably have a lot of move-related debris that needs to go such as packing paper or peanuts, Styrofoam, boxes, and more. Maybe you’ve decided it’s time for some new furniture and you’re just not sure how to get rid of that old chair that wouldn’t sell online. We can coordinate the junk removal for you, so after everything you do want is unloaded from our truck, let us load up what you don’t want and take it to the local junkyard for you.
Item Donation
Have stuff you want to get rid of that is gently used, but you haven’t been able to find the time or don’t have the space in your vehicle to get it to a local charity? There’s no reason to hold onto these items past moving day – we can coordinate the item donation for you and have partners in most cities who will happily accept donated goods.

We believe in our communities
At the very core of our values is our belief in giving back. We believe it is our duty to help support the communities in which we live, play, and work. More than a duty, though, it is a pleasure to be able to make a difference in the lives of the people we call neighbours.
This belief has led to us making meaningful connections in communities across Canada. We partner with local, grassroots organizations to find a way to make the greatest everyday impact in people’s lives. We believe in our communities.
