Staff Spotlight on Kristina L.

Kristina L. joined Two Small Men in 2023 and in her time with the company, she's helped businesses, families, and seniors move across Canada and she approaches every relocation with a solid measure of patience and understanding.

“I start early and finish late, booking moves, quoting, and helping people through the whole process,” Kristina explains. “A lot of customers have never used professional movers before, so it is about guiding them through expectations and making the move as stress-free as possible.”

Although she works out of Calgary, Kristina deals with clients all over the country.

“I am very hands-on with customers from that first phone call all the way through to after their move,” she says.

Previously working for a towing company, Kristina used that experience as an asset in her current position.

“I know all about the stress of maintaining trucks, insurance, and planning routes,” she says. “That knowledge helps me understand what our movers in Calgary and across the country are dealing with.”

She also has a background in interior design, which gives her a better appreciation for the nuances of moving.

“It is not just about moving boxes,” she says. “It is about people, their budgets, and their timelines. Design taught me how to listen closely and focus on creating the right experience.”

She has different solutions available for all moving scenarios.

“For renovations, I often recommend using movers to store belongings in a garage, storage unit, or container,” she says. “We recently handled a large moving job in Edmonton, relocating 12 to 15 units out of an apartment complex for water damage repairs, then moving everyone back after the renovations. That is where my design background and moving knowledge meet, because I can understand both what the movers need and what the clients are going through.”

Careful planning always makes a difference, she cautions.

“Sometimes it is as simple as moving a dishwasher and fridge into the living room so new flooring can go down. Other times it is an entire building full of residents. Either way, it is about solving problems and reducing stress for the client.”

Kristina is especially understanding of seniors.

“Many are not comfortable with today’s technology, so I take the time to walk them through everything step by step,” she says. “I try to be patient and make sure they understand what will happen.”

One job in Edmonton made her appreciate how important adaptability is in this industry.

“That project was supposed to start in October, but we had to move residents out immediately because of water damage. We stepped in quickly and made it happen.”

Kristina also highly values the community involvement at Two Small Men.

“I would like to see more involvement with women’s shelters and domestic violence moves,” she says. “Those situations require fast action and understanding. I also appreciate the work we do with Mamas for Mamas.”
