Staff Spotlight on Two Small Men's Alie Tangney

We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Alie Tangney, who's been with our team for the past six months. Alie has quickly become an integral part of our operations, helping with everything from internal projects to external partnerships. Her journey to Two Small Men is as unique as she is, and we're thrilled to share a bit about her experience and what drives her passion for community.

From Coast to Coast: Alie's Moving Story

Alie's story begins long before she joined our team. Having moved multiple times across Canada—from Maple Ridge to Saskatchewan, back to BC, and eventually settling in Edmonton—she knows firsthand the challenges and triumphs of long-distance moves.

"My first big move was from BC to Saskatchewan in my early twenties," Alie recalls. "I still remember one of my friends saying, 'Let's put all your stuff in the trailer and just go.' That spontaneity and trust in the people around me made such a difference."

Alie eventually moved back to BC to complete her bachelor's degree, and years later, she made the big leap to Edmonton. Unlike her earlier moves, this one was a DIY effort with her husband, tackling the logistics of packing and driving a rental truck themselves.

"Looking back, I can see how hiring professional movers would have made things so much easier," she admits with a laugh. "We were exhausted by the time we arrived. If we ever move again, I'd definitely leave it to the pros!"

Finding Her Place at Two Small Men

Before joining Two Small Men, Alie spent years in event management, working on everything from corporate conferences to community festivals. Her ability to bring people together and create meaningful experiences naturally transitioned into her current role.

"What drew me to this company was the culture," Alie shares. "From day one, I felt welcomed. The team here genuinely cares about each other and the customers we serve. That sense of community is something I value deeply."

In her role, Alie wears many hats—coordinating internal events, supporting marketing initiatives, and fostering relationships with community partners. Her background in event management has been invaluable in helping the company strengthen its ties with local organizations.

A Passion for Community

For Alie, community isn't just a buzzword—it's a way of life. Whether it's volunteering at local shelters, participating in charity runs, or simply checking in on neighbours, she's always looking for ways to give back.

"I believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference," Alie says. "That's one of the reasons I love working here. Two Small Men has a real commitment to giving back, and I get to be a part of that every day."

Her enthusiasm is infectious. Colleagues often describe her as the person who brings positivity to the room, whether it's through organizing a team lunch or spearheading a new community initiative.

Looking Ahead

As Alie continues to grow with Two Small Men, she's excited about the future. She's already brainstorming new ways to engage with the community and strengthen the company's presence in Edmonton and beyond.

"I see so much potential here," she says. "The team is incredible, and there's a real sense of purpose in what we do. I can't wait to see where we go from here."
