Delivering Life-Saving Equipment to Firefighters Without Borders
In The News
At Two Small Men With Big Hearts, we believe in going above and beyond to make a difference in the communities we serve, both locally and globally. We’re thrilled to share that we recently had the opportunity to contribute to a life-saving initiative with Firefighters Without Borders Canada.
On May 28, 2024, we were honored to deliver a significant donation of newly decommissioned firefighting gear and equipment from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and other Manitoba departments to Firefighters Without Borders in Vancouver. This donation, coordinated by Firefighters Without Borders Canada, will be packed and shipped to fire departments in the Philippines, Argentina, and Paraguay, where it will help save lives.
Our Role in the Donation Process
This marks the third time we’ve partnered with Firefighters Without Borders to transport essential equipment across the country. We handled the logistics of moving the gear from Winnipeg to Vancouver, ensuring that it arrived safely and on time. This donation is part of a larger initiative by Firefighters Without Borders, which has contributed over 35,000 tons of firefighting gear to 21 different countries, with a total estimated value of $20 million.
Making a Global Impact
The donated equipment, while no longer meeting Canadian standards, is still in excellent condition and will be put to good use by firefighters in developing countries. As Bob Dubbert, President of Firefighters Without Borders Canada, noted, "Rather than all of this gear ending up in a landfill, there's still lots of life left in it. We can send it overseas to developing countries where there’s a crying need for it."
We are incredibly proud to play a role in this vital work, helping to ensure that firefighters in developing countries have the equipment they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. The difference this equipment makes is profound—allowing firefighters to work with the confidence that they have the right tools for the job.
