NEVER PAY FOR AN ESTIMATE
No legitimate moving company should ever request payment for your estimate – the estimate should be provided free of charge. And speaking of estimates, watch out for estimates that seem “too good” to be true. If one estimate of the several you obtain from different companies is significantly lower, there’s probably a catch.
CHECK OUT THEIR ONLINE REVIEWS
We recommend checking out your potential movers’ Google reviews. There are other websites you can look to for reviews, but Google surpasses other review sites – even Amazon – by multiple millions of users when it comes to monthly traffic. You should pay attention to the number of reviews, too – a perfect rating on Google for 2 reviews doesn’t carry nearly as much weight as a 4.5 rating with 200 reviews.
SEEK REFERRALS FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Your family, friends, and coworkers have likely all used movers at some point, too. See who they’ve moved with and would recommend. Referrals from people you trust are so valuable when selecting a service to use.
